According to local history passed down over the years, the original shiplap structure dates back to the 1800s, when it was located near the mouth of the Brazos River and used to help flag ships traveling in and out of the river. When the mouth of the Brazos was later relocated and the ship channel widened, the structure was moved to its current location and eventually transformed into the unique coastal home you see today.
